Okay, I don't usually lust after antique jewelry, but in this case, I'm willing to make an exception! I think I'll just chalk it up to my ongoing love affair with pearls in gold settings. Course, the emeralds don't hurt a bit. ;-)

i win!

story confirms my thought at first glance, 'oh, what a nice roman drilled pearl, 2-drop earring...' with simple pinched bezel settings for the polished (vs. 'cut') emeralds (which can almost make them look like malachite at a glance, light depending).

at least i learned something as a jewelry major at RIT ...

and yes, you do have great taste, that's a fabulous piece.

actually, i have 2 sizes of hong kong freshwater pearls if you'd like some (a friend picked them up there cheap when his sub docked).

if you know a goldworker (kenhelm?) you could do malachite cabochons for the green to keep the price down...

let me know.
