Link spam and brief commentary

It came!! This is as gorgeous as I could have hoped for.

These are worth every penny (and probably would be worth paying more for, but don't tell KnitPicks).

I'm going to this this afternoon, especially since I use this when I teach this.

Tomorrow the Forester may be done. I may go drinking with the department tonight. Or not. Last time I went, he tried to meet me there, but couldn't find my car, so assumed I went home.

One of my favorite events is happening this weekend in PA, and I can't go, and another I enjoy is close, but due to obligations I'm not going there, either.

I think we'll treat ourselves to a restaurant tomorrow, and maybe Quantum of Solace. And I may pick up My Word is My Bond. Have to see.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Humanities Department at Mohawk Valley Community College. For our intro lit class we are mandated to teach one non-fiction book. Some semesters I teach Smashed. This semester it is Friday Night Lights.

See presentation... I got College, teacher, adults.. looked you up and down, took into account personal conversations... assumed (bad me) English and English Literature. Humanities adds an adjustment I had not entered into the thought process.

Oh, I will have a few conversation prepared for when next we can sit and speak

Did you know that there is a long-running commentary on Friday Night Lights on a blog called "The Quad" on the NY TImes sports website?

Fibor Frolic sounds like fun, especially with Mongolian food.

I had been thinking about daytripping Bjorn's Cailidh tomorrow, but am probably going to go play in a poker tournament instead.

I certainly love the new Bond. Much closer to the Fleming books, though he's still got too much of a conscience to really match up - Fleming's Bond is a rather extreme sociopath. Even when he decides to spontaneously help the girl in For Your Eyes Only, it's really more the thrill of the hunt than it is getting steered by any sort of a moral compass.
