A quiet moment before it all starts

Yesterday had a strangely beautiful winter morning.

At dawn we woke to ground deep in snow, and the air thick with fog. By the time I left for work, the fog had largely cleared, but it left behind a hoarfrost on everything, particularly the plants and trees.

At times as I was driving in it looked like a coral forest, and at others like those lovely crystals we all grew in elementary science classes. The most beautiful, though, were the white pines and cedars, their needles and fronds like a lace tree growing from the ground.

It was a beautiful, serene world of whites and shades of grey.

A photograph wouldn't have captured it--because part of its beauty was that it was ephemeral, and would disappear in the warming day. Which it did. Leaving memory.

A photograph would not do the justice to the scene that your words expressed. Thank you.

I miss those surreal moments. They really are not a possibility in my area! :)

Thank you for the image.
