In responding to the fair J I found myself tripping down memory lane. Perhaps a longing for gentler, simpler days. Perhaps that summer was when I would re-read and re-read (not a typo) beloved volumes since the school library was no longer at my finger tips.

This is the first book I ever read so much, and so often that the cover came off and had to be lovingly, carefully taped back in place. In looking for an electronic version (Miss Alcott's copywrite having long expired), I found this on Amazon. The very edition--a picture I know so well that I can feel myself 8 or 9 years old, hiding in the yard under the weeping willow, lost with aunts and cousins and plaid.

I give you:

Eight Cousins

Hmm, I was always a huge Alcott fan, but I never heard of this one. Did you ever find an electronic copy? I'll have to find it somewhere.

Go to the journal of the fair J (see comment below) and on her book meme I posted links to both Eight Cousins and the sequel for Google books.

I had that book! As well as Little Women, Little Men, Rose in Bloom and few others. All from that publisher.

I read those books until they fell apart!

oh oh oh oh oh.

Me too. Same cover, though I don't honestly remember if that was a library version or the personal one.

I was very startled when I finally realized Little Men was a sequel, of sorts, and even more startled (and a little annoyed) to discover Rose In Bloom. But Eight Cousins is still a favorite.

Gosh, I haven't read it in waaaaay too long. Hmmmm.

(I never cared much for Little Women. Just...didn't. Being contrary, possibly, as it's the best known.)

I loved Little Women (I especially loved Meg and Amy, to the horror of my mother, who was Jo right down to her toes). I could never wrap myself around Little Men, but maybe if I read it in the light of a follow-up to Eight Cousins...

Oh I wish I'd known that when I didn't buy that edition at the used book store. Would have bought for you. :(
I bought the edition with the green cover that matches the red cover on my Little Women.

Have you found them here yet? You can put on your iphone and have withe you whenever needed.
