Question for the NYC savvy on my flist. On June 14 (Monday) we are taking two cars from MVCC to Brooklyn. We would like to be checked into our hotel by 5. Could you give me some options about routes, or advice about what to expect in terms of time to get through the "city" part of our trip?

Hotel in Brooklyn...
Take a look at the Thruway to 87 over the Tappan Zee bridge, to the Major Deegan Expressway, over the Tri-Borough Bridge (now called the RFK Bridge) into Manhattan onto the FDR Drive South, over the Brooklyn Bridge. Should take 5-6 hours.

Re: Hotel in Brooklyn...
Last year we went this way--was calm and pretty until we hit metro: thruway (87) to Palilsades Parkway, across George Washington Bridge to Westside highway or Riverside Drive down to "some bridge into Brooklyn (not the Brooklyn Bridge)." It took us about 3 hrs. to the GW, then OMG hours to the hotel. That was a Sunday. How much should we add for a weekday?
