The Book of FateThe Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Well, I can now say I've read a Brad Meltzer book.

Let no one say I can't learn from experience.

It will be the last Brad Meltzer book I read. It was so awful I can't even bring myself to iterate the reasons.

Yes. A whiny, self-pitying protagonist, corruption at every level of government, and at CIA, FBI, and Secret Service. Venality, abuse, "plucky girl reporter," "overweight, wise-cracking best buddy," McGuffin so stupid I wanted to scream, and the requisite totally crazy gunman. Complete with, literally, them driving off into the sunset at the end.

He left no cliche unturned and didn't even do it in an interesting way. When you find yourself routing for the corrupt FBI agent to actually do serious damage to the protagonist, you know it's bad.
