Unintended consequences

Doing a good job, being conscientious, can earn you the respect of your superiors.

Which can lead to grooming for positions of responsibility. For which one feels abjectly unqualified. But the writing appears to be on the wall.

*sigh*

At the very least a major player (co-chair?) of the self-study due in 5 years. Nothing major--just the document that determines whether or not the college is accredited. No biggie. Not.

Or "the new Norayne"--translation: the institutional assessment coordinator for the college. Sending me to the Middle-States conference in December, and talking about me shadowing our President when he chairs a Middle States team visit sometime in the next 2 years (whenever he ultimately comes up in the chair rotation).

Something tells me I'm not reading too much into this.

Relax, you got this. You have the experience, you are qualified. A little nervousness is OK...it keeps your sharp, just don't let it paralyze you. It can't be much different than being Queen---that involves "chairmanship" ;-)
